Order tracking

Order tracking connects fitting room sessions to purchases, so you can see which sessions end in an order.

  1. A shopper uses the virtual fitting room on a product page. The widget stores the session identifiers (sid and vid) as cart attributes.
  2. The shopper completes checkout and Shopify sends an orders/create notification.
  3. If the order carries a sid, Atelier Digital records an order.placed event linked to that fitting room session.
  • Orders that did not go through the fitting room have no sid and are simply ignored. This is expected and not an error.
  • Shopify may deliver the same notification more than once. Duplicates are detected and never counted twice.
  • If sending an event fails, it is retried later by the Atelier Digital team.
  • Only the order creation is tracked. We do not use customer names, emails, phone numbers or addresses.

Adding order tracking to an existing connection

Section titled “Adding order tracking to an existing connection”

If your store was connected before order tracking was available, it only has the read_products permission. To enable tracking:

  1. In your app in the Dev Dashboard, add read_orders to the Scopes and release a new version. See Phase 3 and 4.
  2. Open https://onboarding-shopify.atelierdigitalai.com/auth?shop=your-store.myshopify.com and approve the new permission. You don’t need to uninstall anything.
